The sub-moronic ramblings of a semi-functioning illiterate

Captain No Post

Alright, so I suppose I should have written a post today but I couldn’t because I can’t put down the new book I started called GUNS, GERMS, AND STEEL. Even though I write fiction I prefer to read non-fiction and I am absolutely hooked on this book. But I promise not to leave you completely empty handed. My friend and blogger Les over at BESTBATHROOMBOOKS put out a post the other day that had me in stitches called:

Even if bloggers working blue isn’t your cup of tea I highly recommend taking a trip over as he handles this topic with a delicate but humorous hand.

  1. That’s a fantastic book. So is Collapse b him, which looks at societies on the way down.
The 2 books together are great.

    • You’re like the third person who’s recommended that book to me. Definitely going on my list.

Ah, this is on my list and has been forever. My brother gave it to me and I have it in my growing pile of must read…

    October 22, 2011 at 12:44 pm

    • I probably have the same pile. My favorite book is HAUNTED by Chuck Palahniuk which I’ve only read about 100 times, so I made myself put off re-reading it until I read something with a little more substance. By the way, if you’re not familiar with HAUNTED I strongly recommend doing some online research before purchasing the book. It is definitely NOT for everyone.

  3. 9) You know how the Romantic Hallmark Cards never have a picture of a guy delivering pizza with a broken zipper? Love it!!

    October 22, 2011 at 2:58 pm

    • That was my favorite too!

  4. How could I not like this post? G G n S is a great book by Jared Diamond–won the Pulitzer for it. That guy’s a genius. That book changed my philosophy on life, just like Fountainhead. When you realize that everything, down to a cellular level is motivated by its own self-interest (did you read about rabies yet?) I had an entirely new understanding of why people are like they are.
Thanks so much for the shout out. Got some extra hits!

    • Thanks for making it clever and not X-rated. Easier to share that way, though the post is definitely harder to write.

      October 22, 2011 at 7:17 pm

    • Funny, I thought Fountainhead was a great book too (I even have a limerick for it on my blog), I didn’t find it to change my perspective, philosophy or outlook on life.
Loved the book, but not an Ayn Rand fan…

      October 22, 2011 at 8:50 pm

      • Now I HAVE to read the limerick.

  5. It’s impossible for me to have A favorite author, book, movie, band, song, album, painting, etc., etc. There are so many good ones.

    • Can you imagine picking your favorite SONG? I think if you were held at gun point you couldn’t do it! (That’s good by the way).

Since you didn’t post by posting this today, I went and read the post you mentioned…….
Oh, yeah….I was going to let you know, and this is totally unrelated to your no post that you posted today, but there’s some guy going around talking about my site, He’s gone onto about 12 comment threads so far and thrown in my site,, into whatever the topic is that he’s commenting on. It’s not like he says anything bad, actually it’s all very respectful and well versed, things like “ really makes a hard day better” and “ is really a site that everyone should read on account that it is so cool, and everyone wants to be cool, so you should check it out”. My problem with the fact that he mentions on all these sites is that it seems to be some form of free advertising for my site( and I will not stand for free advertising. The best advertising is the kind that you must pay for, I think I even wrote a topical post about advertising one time on my site, if you’d like to check it out?
Anyways, your post today(or lack there of) sure had a lot of words for not being posted.
Just thought I’d give ya a heads up.

    • I think I might love you.

      October 22, 2011 at 7:14 pm

      • Hell = frozen. Black = white. Up = down. Caulk in Uranus! I can’t believe you – YOU – said that.

        October 22, 2011 at 8:09 pm

        • When did I say that?! I’m sure I probably did, but I don’t remember. Certainly sounds like me, though.

  7. Great share! Nicely done, good sir.

  8. H, excellent book choice, and I echo the above’s recommend of “Collapse” by the same dude, which I thought was even more interesting. Someone also mentioned Ayn Rand… read her major works as well. You will thank yourself for it.

    October 23, 2011 at 10:31 am

    • I’m only about a third of the way through and it’s really good. The only reason I put it down was because my eyes began to hurt. Naturally I hopped onto the computer instead.

I might need to read that post on Ten Questions for Prospective Porn Stars . . .

Um, for no particular reason. Um. Heh.
